Clean Aviation Support for Impact Monitoring

  • LinkedIn

Aviation significantly impacts the climate through both CO2 and non-CO2 emissions, including contrail formation, nitrogen oxides, water vapor, sulphur dioxide, and soot particles.

While the effects of CO2 emissions are well-understood, non-CO2 emissions' impact on climate neutrality remains less clear, with scientific consensus lacking. Recent publications highlight a lack of agreement in the choice of the most suitable metrics and a high level of uncertainty in estimating non-CO2 emissions' impact.

Understanding these gaps requires a comprehensive review of the current knowledge and available models predicting aviation's climate effect in the future.
